Pedro Lott

Pedro Lott is a 4th degree black belt and has been teaching jiu jitsu for over 20 years.

Pedro opened Frontline Academy in 2014 after a successful jiu jitsu career which took him around the world. Frontline has become the leading Brazilian jiu jitsu school in Alberta under Pedro’s leadership. Frontline has made some World, European, Pan Am and provincial champions. One of Pedro’s main beliefs is that jiu jitsu can transform people’s lives for the better. Even with the long list of titles his students have achieved over the last few years, Pedro is passionate about creating a space that is welcoming and inclusive to all; competitors and hobbyists.

Huthayfah Penney

Huthayfah is a 1st degree black belt. He is an avid competitor and is the first Canadian black belt to ever stand on the podium at an IBJJF grand slam gi event. Huthayfah is the leader of our incredible kids program where you can clearly witness his passion to help young people reach their potential.

Alexandre ‘Baby’ Carvalho

Alexandre is a 5th degree black belt with a wealth of international coaching and competition experience. He taught and coached in Abu Dhabi for 15 years and was a foundational component of the public school jiu jitsu project there. While living in Abu Dhabi he also provided jiu jitsu instruction on the military bases.

Chayse Balbar

Chayse is the welcoming face you will find as you enter Frontline; she will help you get ready to attend your first class and whatever else you may need. As our manager, she attends to many tasks at the gym. She is also one of our most accomplished athletes with a host of titles attached to her name. Chayse is our incredibly capable alternate instructor.

Luke Amico

Luke is another dedicated coach for our kids’ program. His passion for helping the kids is obvious from the moment the class starts. He is also an avid competitor and has plenty of international competition experience under his belt.
